LAGOS, (CAJ News) – UNITED States Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, will later this week meet religious leaders, captain of industry and commerce in Nigeria capital , Lagos.

They will discuss prevailing issues.

Her office confirmed she will meet with oil industry executives, business representatives, religious leaders, and US consulate personnel on Thursday.

Thomas-Greenfield is accompanying Secretary of State John Kerry on his August 21-24 trip to Nairobi, Kenya, and the cities of Abuja and Sokoto in Nigeria.

The Assistant Secretary will then return to Nairobi August 26-28.

Thomas-Greenfield will lead the US delegation at the Sixth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD VI), and will
participate in several bilateral meetings with African leaders.

The US delegation’s visit comes amid the security challenges posed by terror groups in Kenya and Nigeria as well as the economic problems affecting the latter.
