UN aide explores Nigeria youth empowerment

United Nations Secretary-General’s Envoy on Youth, Ahmad AlhendawiEMEKA OKONKWO 
ABUJA, (CAJ News) – THE United Nations Secretary-General’s Envoy on Youth, Ahmad Alhendawi, will from Sunday be in Nigeria to promote coordinated UN support to youth development initiatives.

He will particularly advocate for adequate investment in youth development interventions, with particular focus on education, employment opportunities, poverty alleviation, empowerment, health and the role of youth in peace building.

He intends to meet Vice President Prof Yemi Osinbajo, as well as the Ministers or Principal officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; the Ministry of Youth and Sports; the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development; the Ministry of Labour and Productivity; the Ministry of  Environment; the Ministry of Education; the Ministry of Health and the Federal Capital Territory.

Alhendawi will visit selected sites within the Federal Capital Territory, including a visit to the Office of the Vice President, the National
Assembly, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the National Youth Service Corps, the National Agency for the Control of AIDS, the Abuja Enterprise Agency and the Office of the United Nations Resident Coordinator.

His visit will end on Wednesday.
