Troops kill 5 insurgents in Borno community

ABUJA, (CAJ News) – THE Nigerian Army has killed five suspected Boko Haram  terrorists during an operation in Yauri Community in the outskirts of Maiduguri city, Borno State.

Troops of the Lafiya Dole accompanied by Civilian Joint Task Force successfully thwarted the attempt by the alleged insurgents.

Among items recovered are two AK-47 rifles, a General Purpose Machine Gun  (GPMG), a 60mm mortar tube, a Fabrique Nationale (FN) rifle, two Dane Guns, two AK-47 rifle magazines, two FN rifle magazines, 131 rounds of 7.62mm (NATO) ammunition, 31 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunitions, a 60mm bomb and the sum of N31 275.

Sani Kukasheka Usman, the Army spokesperson, said calm had been restored to the area.

“We are glad to inform the public that the general area is calm, while troops have deployed to maintain security in the village and environs,” said Usman.
