Terrorists killed as Army thwarts Kogi mosque attack

ABUJA, (CAJ News) – THE Nigerian Army has killed two suspected members of the Boko Haram terrorist group as the insurgents attempted to attack a mosque in Kogi State.

The troops have repelled the attack in Enike Mosque in Okene town.

Army Spokesperson, Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, confirmed the development on Wednesday morning.

He said a rocket propelled grenade bomb and empty cases of expended ammunition were recovered.

The Army spokesman confirmed that a soldier died during the attack and another sustained gunshot wounds.

“Our troops on cordon and search operations at the general area of Enike Mosque, Okene town, Kogi State were attacked by some suspected terrorists at about 5.30am Tuesday,” he said.

Usman said the troops responded and two of the attackers were killed.

He reiterated the call on the public to cooperate with security agencies, be more security conscious and report suspected persons or unusual movements to the security agencies.

“The fight against terrorism and insurgency is a collective responsibility of all. well meaning citizens. We should not allow these criminals to succeed in thwarting our collective efforts of peaceful co-existence,” Usman said.
