LAGOS, (CAJ News) – CROSS River Governor, Ben Ayade, has welcomed the economic growth potential and employment opportunities presented by a Swedish company planning to establish a pulp mill in the state.
Greenland Resources is planning the investment.
Ayade pledged his administration’s support for the execution of the project, which will create thousands of jobs.
“We will do all we can as a government to support you,” he told company officials in the state capital, Calabar.
Ayade urged relevant government departments to ensure necessary support for the commencement of the project.
He said the creation of more than 14 000 jobs would come as a huge relief for government.
“We are excited about your project,” said Ayade.
Greenland Resources President, Torbjorn Johansson, said the pulp mill would increase the country’s export revenues with earnings of more than US$1,2 billion (N415 billion) yearly.
The Swedish Embassy in Nigeria was key to Greenland Resources exploring plans to expand to Nigeria.
