Survey suggests disapproval of Buhari’s performance

LAGOS, (CAJ News) – LATEST governance poll results indicate a decline in the job approval rating of Nigeria President Muhammadu Buhari.

According to survey firm, NOIPolls, the approval rating for the month of June 2016 stood at 39 percent, 9 percent lower than the previous month. On the contrary, 41 percent of the respondents disapproved of the President’s job performance whereas 20 percent were indifferent.

The survey also revealed a general decline in the approval rating of the president across five geopolitical zones.

The North-West zone at 61 percent recorded the highest approval rating , closely followed by the North-East zone with 59 percent. The South-East and South-South zones had the least approval rating of 8 percent and 24 percent respectively.

The opinion poll was conducted in the week of June 27. It involved telephone interviews of a random nationwide sample. Some 1 000 randomly selected phone-owning Nigerians aged 18 years and above, representing the six geopolitical zones in the country, were interviewed.

They were asked to rate Buhari on key indicators such as Conflict resolution, Agriculture and Food Security, Health Care, Education,
Economy, Job creation, Infrastructure, Infrastructure and Poverty Alleviation.
