Rivers sanitation violators face prosecution

ABUJA, (CAJ News) – PEOPLE that fail to comply with restrictions put in place for the Rivers State sanitation exercise face prosecution, authorities have warned.

This month’s exercise holds on Saturday across the various Local Government Areas of Rivers State.

Human and vehicular movements will be restricted from 07h00 to 10h00 during the sanitation hours.

The Administrator of Rivers State Waste Management Agency, Felix Obuah, said anyone caught violating the restriction of movement order shall be arrested and charged before the Sanitation Court.

The court, he said, would be sitting at the premises of the Rivers State Waste management Agency during and after the sanitation hours.

Obuah appealed to all residents to fully participate by clearing their drains, bagging their wastes and dropping them at approved receptacles only.

He also appeals to companies, corporate organizations and individuals to donate their pay loaders, trucks and other equipments for easy evacuation of waste on the Sanitation Day.

Obuah enjoined all the Local Government Caretaker Committee Chairmen in the State to ensure adequate participation and compliance in their respective Local Government Areas.
