ABUJA, (CAJ News) – THE National Working Committee of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has postponed the state congress in Edo State.

The party said a new date will be announced in due course.

This was disclosed in the resolution of the NWC meeting held at the party secretariat in
Abuja, signed by National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh.

He said the National Working Committee also considered the report of the Senator Ike Ekweremadu-led Party Post-Election Review Committee and the general state of the party.

“The NWC hereby announces the postponement of the rescheduled state congresses in Edo State. A new date will be announced in due course,” Metuh said.

He said the NWC commended the Ekweremadu-led PDP Post-Election Review Committee for the successful review of the performance of the party in the 2015 general elections and the recommendations for effective rebuilding.

The PDP suffered defeat by the All Progressives Congress at the polls.

Metuh said the NWC accepted the report of the Post-Election Review Committee in good faith.

He noted mistakes and lapses of successive leadership organs of the party and resolves that the report and recommendations of the PDP Post-Election Review Committee would first be tabled before the National Caucus of the party on Tuesday next week.

Metuh said the NWC also affirms that the rebuilding process, which began with the inauguration of the Senator Ekweremadu-led Committee, was on course.

“All party members are urged to remain committed to the course of returning the party to power at the centre in 2019.” – CAJ News
