PDP celebrates ex-chair Tukur’s milestone

ABUJA, (CAJ News) -THE People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has showered praise on its former National Chairman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, as he turned 80.

He reached the milestone on Tuesday.

PDP described him as a quintessential democrat and humble statesman, who has contributed immensely to the development and stability of the nation.

PDP National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, said the party remained proud that the octogenarian, who is one of its founding fathers, had made indelible marks in business and politics within and outside the country.

He said the party remains grateful to Tukur for his leadership roles and sustained selfless contributions since its formation.

“The PDP family is ever grateful to you for your numerous sacrifices and contributions to our great party, where you remain a fountain of inspiration to many,” Metuh wrote for the PDP.

He said despite Tukur’s towering attainments as a global statesman, in business and politics, he had kept faith as an epitome of hard work, honesty, humility and service.

The party also urged younger generation of leaders to emulate Alhaji  Tukur’s humility, honesty, sense of duty and dedication to the national interest.

Tukur was the chairman of PDP from March 2012 to August 2013.
