LAGOS, (CAJ News) – THE National Association of Nigeria Students  (NANS-Ondo State Chapter) has urged government and stakeholders to support youth in order to help them fulfil their potential.

In a solidarity message following the recently-commemorated International  Youth Day (IYD) NANS Ondo Joint Campus Committee leader, Falegan Samson, pointed out Nigeria’s youth population was arguably contradictory, “on one  side, pockets of shining stars; on the other, a largely untapped resource.”

“But there is growing evidence that young people can be agents of change,  when given a chance,” said Samson.

He said the mention of youth invoked images of unemployment, underdevelopment, political thuggery, ignorance, radicalization and
militancy.

“This is though there are pockets of shinning stars.”

Samson said the youths’, and eventually the country’s, fortunes would  change when this segment of society was supported.

“If we change the way we think about youth, if we change the way we talk about young people, if we change the way that all ages can participate in our decision making, then, we will find that young people will change our  world for the better.”
