LAGOS, (CAJ News) – THE Akwa Ibom Divine Mandate, aligned to Governor Udom Emmanuel, has dismissed reports the Election Petition Tribunal would nullify the current administration.
The organisation said the polity had been “unessentially” and “needlessly”charged following these projections.“Quite frankly, it would have been easy to ignore the false alarms, tantrums and propaganda as traits of political masturbation or simply, traces of political hangover from the last elections which the People’sDemocratic Party swept in Akwa Ibom State,” the organisation said.”
But it appears a few persons are as persistent as a mosquito in takingover the realms of power by all means, including hiring the services of Lagos based social media heavyweights to flood the space with falsehood.
“Akwa Ibom Divine Mandate, in the statement, said there were many twisted accounts of what transpires at the tribunal in Abuja.
“There is a grand plot to heat up the polity and cause anxiety amongst unsuspecting members of the public. Like my friend, Osondu’s Ahirikaopines, there is a well oiled syndicate perpetually on stand-by, tointerpret every process and sitting, doctor to reflect, amplify and spreadthe All Progressives Congress version,” it said.
“Due to the relocation of the tribunal to Abuja, some persons have intheir helplessness submitted to the fiendish lies, half truths, twisted tales and unbridled propaganda churned out by clearly partisan megaphonesor foot soldiers.”
The media trial and adjudication of the case at the tribunal undertakenby APC agents is unfortunate. For decency sake, the APC cannot play thedouble role of petitioner and judge in her own case. They brought apetition to the Tribunal. That is legitimate.”In April, the PDP candidate, Emmanuel, won the governorship election in Akwa Ibom.
Emmanuel scored 996 071 votes to defeat his APC opponent, UmanaUmana, who polled 89 865 votes. The announcement came amid calls for the cancellation of the polls overwidespread violence and irregularities.
