Troops slay pirates at Niger Delta

ABUJA, (CAJ News) – NIGERIAN troops have killed four suspected sea robbers during operations in the oil-rich Niger Delta.
Troops of the Operation DELTA SAFE (OPDS) ambushed the suspects along the waterways in Rivers State prior to the attack.
Items recovered include AK 47 rifles, magazines, ammunition and a speedboat.
Similarly, troops patrol along Bayelsa waterways, acting on information,raided a sea pirates hideout along local waterways.
However, suspects on sighting troops advance fled the hideout, and left
behind fibre boats and a power engine.
The hideout was subsequently destroyed while the troops continue with
their patrols, OPDS spokesperson, Major Abubakar Abullahi, said.
“In view of this, the Commander of OPDS), Rear Admiral Apochi Suleiman,
wishes to commend law abiding citizen for their support by providing
timely and useful information to troops,” said Abullahi.
