ABUJA, (CAJ News) – TROOPS of the 223 Battalion, 1 Division Nigerian Army, deployed at Bena have recovered some stolen animals, arms and ammunition as well as destroying suspected cattle rustlers and armed bandits camps in Zamfara State.
The raid was part of the continuous efforts of making parts of the north western geo-political region of the country free of the menace of cattle rustling, armed banditry and other criminal activities such as kidnapping.
The raided camps were located at a forest in Rikwa village, Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara.
The troops recovered three local made pistols, two Dane Guns, four AK-47 magazines and 97 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition.
They also recovered some stolen animals which include 147 cows, 432 sheep, two goats and a camel.
The recovered livestock were handed over to local authority, said Col. Sani Kukasheka Usman, Acting Director Army Public Relations.
