ABUJA, (CAJ News) – RIVERS State Deputy Governor, Ipalibo Harry Banigo, has denounced the decision by the elections tribunal to nullify her election alongside Governor, Nyesom Wike’s.
She instead vowed to protect the current administration’s mandate and ensure that the resources of the state were used to improve the living standard of Rivers people.
She said this when the Foundation for Female Empowerment (FFE) members, a socio-cultural organisation paid her a solidarity visit at Government House, Port Harcourt.
She argued the people of Rivers State voted for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Governor Wike and herself because of their conviction that they possess the capacity to deliver quality service to them.
“Rivers People voted for us because they believe that we will deliver the dividends of democracy to them and improve on the living standard of our people,” said Banigo.
“Time has passed when people came to Rivers State to take away our wealth. We are prepared to protect our resources for the betterment of our people,” Banigo said.
She was speaking days after the state’s election tribunal invalidated the tenure of the current administration citing irregularities in the election held in April.
