LAGOS, (CAJ News) – THE frontrunners for the Glo Premiership title might have suffered shock setbacks at the weekend but their positions are far from any threat.
Enyimba, the leaders, were stunned 2-1 at El-Kanemi Warriors on Sunday while their closest rivals Warri Wolves suffered an identical shock result away to Abia Warriors.Despite the setback, Enyimba still leads the 20-team league log table with 55 points.
Their Abia rivals remain second four points adrift.
Eight rounds of matches remain before the curtain comes down the Premiership.
Elsewhere across the country, 3SC used home advantage to beat Akwa United 1-0, Dolphins massacred FC Taraba 3 – 1, Giwa FC narrowly edged Sharks Football Club 1 – 0 while Heartland and Lobi Stars settled for a goalless draw.In other encounters, FC Ifeanyiubah were held to a 1 – 1 draw by Kano Pillars while Nasarawa United beat Ranger 1 – 0. Wikki Tourists won 2 – 0 against Bayelsa United.In the only match played on Saturday, Kwara United lost 1 – 2 to Sunshine Stars.
