PDP lauds government commitment to health sector

ABUJA, (CAJ News) – THE Chairman of the Rivers State Chapter of the People’s Democratic Party, Felix Obuah, has lauded healthcare delivery efforts by Governor Nyesom Wike.

Wike’s government has offered accessible loans to operators of private  hospitals in the state.

Obuah expressed total satisfaction with the initiative, saying it was a deliberate scheme to enhance quality healthcare across the state as well as a befitting financial intervention and assistance to the private hospitals.

He said it would go a long way in improving hospitals’ facilities, healthcare delivery system as well as the operational environment.

He said Wike’s gesture and commitment to health services delivery across the state was a boost for the party and a fulfillment of the governor’s electioneering campaign promises made during interaction with the medical doctors before his election.

Obuah specifically commended Wike for not restricting beneficiaries of the private Hospitals Loans scheme to only those operating in the urban areas but included all those located in the rural areas and the hinterland across the state.

He explained that going by the loan’s scheme design, over 500 health facilities were expected to benefit from the programme.

“This is exceptional and quite commendable,” Obuah said.

More gratifying, Obuah said, was the fact that Rivers government would act   as guarantor for all benefitting potential private hospitals, as well as paying the interest on the loans on behalf of the operators of such private hospitals across the state.
