LAGOS, (CAJ News) – ORGANISERS of NigeriaCom, the country’s premier information and communications technology summit, have announced a panel to discuss trends in the digital content industry.
Among the presenters are Charles Akpom (Chief Executive Officer and Founder, Afroterminal), Olusegun Salami (Senior Manager, Transmission Access Planning, MTN), Fola Akinmolayan (Chief Operators Officer, Neo2), Akin Busari (Co Founder, Afro Tunes), Olukoya Adewale (Country Manager Nigeria, Yookos) and Bastian Gotter, COO of iROKO.
“We are excited that NigeriaCom 2015 provides the industry forum for developing partnerships and hearing about transition from a ‘minutes to megabytes’ business model.
“We’re privileged to welcome a panel of leading content creators and aggregators to share their thoughts on the new content battleground alongside the network operator community of NigeriaCom,” Informa, the United Kingdom-based organisers, stated.
NigeriaCom 2015 will be held in Lagos in September under the theme, “Strengthening networks & ICT for a digital Nigeria.”
“In an age of music videos and real time sports streams on the go, it’s no surprise smartphone penetration is growing in Nigeria (all be it from a low level at 15 percent), while nearly a third of internet visits are from smartphone use,” Informa said.
It is expected with handset and data service prices declining that a significant number of Nigerians will come online in the short to mid-term.
“Network operators, content creators, developers and broadcasters should be working together now to establish a firm hold on the content battleground as this will become the differentiator that customers align to in the coming years,” Informa stated.
