The country’s Deputy Ambassador to Nigeria, Qin Jian, stated this during a courtesy visit to the Acting Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris, at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
The Chinese envoy said he was in the office of the Inspector-General of Police to felicitate with the IGP on his assumption of leadership of the Nigeria Police Force. “China and Nigeria have a bilateral relationship that dates back over 45 years and we are ready to assist the Nigeria Police in its quest for capacity building,” Jian said.
He also promised that China will assist the Nigeria Police in various specialized training to enhance capacity and proficiency.
Qin Jian further said that the offer of training is in furtherance to the outcome of the recent visit of President Mohammadu Buhari to China.
Idris expressed appreciation to the envoy for the visit, especially in the offer of assistance by the Chinese Government to assist build the capacity of the Nigeria Police.
He promised the Nigeria Police Force would ensure the actualization of the offer by the Chinese, in line with the force’s needs.
Idrid also assured Jian of the Nigeria Police commitment to protect foreign nationals and their legitimate interests in Nigeria.
