ABUJA, (CAJ News) – THE All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed surprise at the reaction by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State after former Governor Rotimi Amaechi instituted a lawsuit against the latter.
Amaechi has slapped Rivers PDP Chairman, Felix Obuah, and his party with a N300 billion libel suit.
“It is indeed hilarious that an action already taken and so reported across the local and national print and electronic media in very simple journalistic English should be appearing like some apparition to Felix
Obuah and Jerry Needam as threat of litigation,” APC Publicity Secretary, Chris Finebone, said.
Amaechi has filed a lawsuit at the Abuja High Court over allegations of foreign accounts ownership and embezzlement against him.
The former governor is seeking from the party and its officials N300 billion for general damages done to him and defamation of his character, reputation and person.
This action by the former governor is according to Finebone a in pursuant to his right to a good name which is every law-abiding citizen is entitled to.
“If this reality has resulted to some hallucination on the part of Obuah and his people, it would be in their interest to wake from their slumber, have a discussion with their legal team and face the stark reality that now stares them in the face. Indeed, they should be getting ready to have their day in court.”
