Abuja seminar to explore solutions to drug abuse

ABUJA, (CAJ News) – EXPERTS and practitioners in the pharmaceutical industry will converge in Abuja next month to come up with measures to address the abuse of drugs.

The Federal Ministry of Health is organizing the seminar scheduled for September 29-30.

According to organizers, exhibitions of medical equipment and pharmaceutical ware will be another highlight of the conference.

The gathering is expected to draw participants from some relevant federal and state ministries as well as agencies, local governments and federal and state legislatures.

Representatives of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas, National Council of Women Societies, National Youth Service Corps, Para-Military institutions, National Council of Women Societies, National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, World Health Organisation and private individuals among others are also set to attend.

Substance abuse in Nigeria is becoming a significant medical, psychological, social and economic problem facing the nation.
